Built for

Results

SPARK NextGen helps growing athletes get faster and more powerful while building a body that holds up over a long career. We coach movement first, teaching clean patterns that lower injury risk and let athletes handle more as they progress.

Regular jump and sprint testing gives our coaches objective numbers on every athlete, so training is guided by what the data shows and progress is something athletes and parents can see.

With three levels and a drop-in schedule, athletes can start where they are and train around practices, games and school.

New Athlete Requirement

  • Athletes new to NextGen (and to gym training in general) must complete Intro to NextGen, which is three private training sessions designed to teach:

    • Core movement patterns: hip hinge, jumping & landing, squat, deadlift, overhead pressing

    • Use of training implements: barbells, dumbbells, kettlebells, landmines, etc.

    • Gym etiquette and safety fundamentals

Athletes entering Level 2 or 3 also complete baseline jump and sprint testing during their intro sessions, alongside a movement screen. This gives coaches objective numbers to guide training from day one.

Athletes with prior lifting and training experience may skip Intro to NextGen if they can physically demonstrate proper technique and understanding of the above movements and equipment.

NextGen Level 1 (Ages 10 - 12): Learn to Train

Level 1 is all about building strong foundations. We focus on developing a wide range of motor skills and helping young athletes feel confident in a training environment.

Athletes learn and practice essential movement patterns: jumping, sprinting, squatting, hip hinging, lunging, and maintaining proper core and postural control, while also taking part in fun, aerobic activities.

Our goal at this stage is to give athletes the skills, strength, and confidence they need to progress to Level 2, all in a safe, supportive, and engaging setting.

NextGen Level 2 (Ages 12 - 18): Train to Train

Level 2 focuses on building strength, speed, and stamina while helping athletes adapt to the physical changes that come with growth.

Training emphasizes posture, lifting technique, and strengthening underused muscle groups to support healthy development. Workouts become more structured, introducing anaerobic conditioning and formal strength training.

Athletes learn to train safely and effectively with barbells, dumbbells, medicine balls, kettlebells, and bands, while continuing to advance their sprinting, power, and overall conditioning.

Five testing weeks are built into the year, timed around the sport season. Coaches use the results to track each athlete's progress and adjust their training.

NextGen Level 3 (Ages 14 - 20): Train to Compete

Level 3 is designed for athletes who have already built a strong training foundation, whether through NextGen Levels 1 and 2 or equivalent experience. With that base in place, it's time to introduce more advanced methods to keep driving athletic development forward.

At this stage, athletes are expected to demonstrate proficiency in sprinting, jumping, and all key upper and lower body movement patterns during resistance training. Sessions focus on refining sport-specific strength, maximizing explosive power, and enhancing injury resilience.

Level 3 athletes are tested and monitored weekly, with five larger testing weeks through the year. That data shapes their training, so coaches can push harder when an athlete is ready and pull back when they need to recover.

Training is tailored to help athletes reach the next level, developing a bigger, faster, stronger, and healthier body that can perform under the demands of their sport.
